AAM NEWS See important news about the AAM websiteAAM Mourns the Loss of MFAH's Peter MarzioAAM is deeply saddened by the death of Peter C. Marzio, director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, who passed away early Friday morning after a battle with cancer. He was 67 years old. #8232; #8232;The museum rsquo;s longest serving director, Marzio joined the MFAH in 1982 after serving as director and chief executive officer of the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., from 1978 to 1982. Under his leadership, the MFAH rsquo;s permanent collection more than quadrupled in size, growing from about 14,000 artworks to 63,000, the Houston Chronicle reports. Marzio was a driving force behind bringing the 2011 AAM Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo trade; to Houston and had served as chair.
