Orchestra to State Finals
The Central High School Symphony Orchestra finished the 2010 season by placing in the top eight of the ISSMA Organization Contest State Finals. This is the third year in a row and the ninth time in school history Central's Symphony Orchestra has been a State Finalist.
ECHS Music Groups Excel
The Elkhart Central High School Orchestras and Choirs have again received the Indiana State School Music Association's All-Music Award by meeting specific criteria throughout the school year. These ECHS groups have received the award all eight years the award has been given. Shown are Symphony Orchestra concert master Kari Huang and Concert Choir president Juan Alarcon holding the banner which will hang outside the school auditorium.
Commencement 2010
Over 5,000 people attended the 38th commencement of Elkhart Central High School which was held on June 6th at Central's Rice Field. The photo above shows principal Frank Serge congratulating foreign exchange student Hannah Klever. This marks the 138th graduating class in Elkhart, a tradition in excellence that began in 1872. U14 Blaze Wins!
The U14 Blaze, a feeder softball team organized by the ECHS softball staff, won the 2010 Blaze Softball Invite. The two-day tournment is held at the Central West Athletic Complex every summer. Last week the U14 Blaze won the Memorial Softball Invite. Eariler, they won the Wahoo Invite, pool quot;D quot;, this 50 team, three-day tournment is held in Warsaw every summer. Many of the team members will be freshman at Central this coming fall. Also, there are U10 and U12 teams in the program this year.

2010 National Financial Capability Challenge.
The National Financial Capability Challenge is an awards program designed to increase the financial knowledge and capability of high school aged youth across the United States so they can take control over their financial futures. It challenges high school teachers and other educators to teach the basics of personal finance to their students, and rewards students, educators, schools, and states for their participation and their success. The goal is for 1 million students to take the Challenge.

Over 150,000 students from all 50 states and 13 foreign countries participated in the National Latin Exam in March 2010. In the National Latin Exam the students have to answer 40 questions in 40 minutes. These questions differ by levels of Latin and are on grammar, Roman culture and civilization, and the content of a Latin text.
