Charm Bracelets were originally used to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and date back as far as ancient Egypt who used them as symbols of faith and luck.
It was not until Queen Victoria started wearing charm bracelets that they became a fashion item among the nobility.
In the 1950s the charm bracelets once more became popular with teenagers collecting the charms to record events in their lives. Youth subcultures started collecting charms with skulls and crosses, and in 2006 with the release of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean the collection of charms exploded.
