BIRTHSTONES BY MONTH
A birthstone is a precious material that symbolizes the month a person was born. It is believed that they hold power and personality traits unique to the person born under a specific zodiac sign. Wearing your birthstone is said to transfer its powers to your body and mind and also results in positive life changes. The twelve birthstones are:
January – Garnet
Garnet brings purity, truth, faithfulness and friendship. Garnets occur in many different colours except blue. The gem is found in colours such as orange, green, purple, yellow, brown, black and even colourless. Garnets enhance sexuality and sensuality. It is effective for problems relating to the lungs, blood, heart and infection.
February – Amethyst

March – Aquamarine
Aquamarine occurs in various shades of blue ranging from pale yellowish blue to deep shades of blue. It represents sympathy, trust, harmony and friendship. It is effective for throat problems and illnesses brought on by stress.
April – Diamond
Diamond is the most precious and most expensive gemstone. It is extremely rare and luminous. It is effective for brain diseases and to draw out toxins. Diamonds represent true love, passion and commitment.
May – Emerald
Emerald is green in colour. It symbolizes loyalty, faith, love and friendship. It is effective for problems in connection with the eyes, fertility, the spine and headaches.
June – Pearl
A pearl represents beauty, happiness, love and wealth. It is used to enhance personal integrity as well as for health problems relating to the stomach, heart, spleen, intestines and also ulcer problems. It is the only gemstone created as a result of the biological activities of living organisms.
July – Ruby
The ruby is famous for its brilliant red colour which symbolizes blood, love, romance and passion. It is effective for health problems linked to the blood and infection.
August – Peridot
The peridot represents power and influence. In olden days it was taken internally for asthma. It is effective for health problems associated with the lungs, breasts and sinuses.
September – Sapphire
Sapphires are available in various colours. They symbolize clear thinking and wisdom.
October – Opal
Opal is available in almost every shade, from milky white to dark black. It imparts hope and harmony. It is effective for eye problems.
November – Topaz
Topaz occurs in shades of brown and yellow. It is believed to bring long life and fidelity and represents beauty, splendor and joy. It is effective for asthma, blood disorders and sanity.
December – Turquoise
Turquoise is clear blue and is very expensive. It is said to bring good health, fortune and peace. It is effective for throat, teeth and depression problems.
