GDC 2011: Day 3
Mar 03 2011 09:26 AM by mittens in GDC 2011
Day 3 started, much like Day 2, at 5:00am, because for some reason I #39;m under the false assumption that I should continue waking up at my normal time all week.
That is a poor assumption.
Day 3 #39;s sessions started with the keynote from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, and was entitled #34;Video Games Turn 25. #34; Largely, the session was about Iwata recounting the early days of Nintendo and attempting to promote feelings of pride and ambition in the development community through a variety of ane...

I #39;ll also use this space to announce no Weekday/Weekend Reading this week, will catch up next week....

It may be the GDC, but I #39;m not there, and so I #39;m posting some news updates for all of you. Welcome to an exceptionally short GameDev.net as I prepare for the onslaught of GDC stuff next week #33; Also, I #39;ll be at GDC next week #33; So come give hugs, etc.
With the closure of Bizarre Creations recently, some Bizarre veterans have gone on to create Ludic Games.
Robot Entertainment, formed by members of the closed Ensemble Studios, has released some footage of their new game, Orcs Must Die. In an odd bit of news, it appears that Gas Powered Games has taken over Robot Entertainment #39;s last project, Age of Empires Online.
The price of the absolutely superb Playstation Portable has been cut to #036;129.99. Get one. There are so many great games on the system. LIKE TACTICS OGRE. TACTICS OGRE. TACTICS OGRE.
Hopefully I #39;ll see some of you at GDC next week #33;...

There are also new features like the plugin SPARK_PL integrating the free open source particle engine SPARK. The SDK now includes two new demos, one of them shows how picking works....
