What is Lightscribe?
Lightscribe Direct Disc Labeling is a new technology from HP to make disc labels. Using a special LightScribe program, drive and coated disc media, it makes disc labeling really simple. Free software, free templates amp; designs, and links to buy CD amp; DVD discs are available here to get you started.
How does Lightscribe work?
Creating great CD Labels with LightScribe is really easy. You can design your own, or take advantage of the free templates and designs available for download from galleries on the web.
Once you have your designs, It takes just 3 simple steps:
Burn your data (music, photos, video, etc.) in the drive.
When your data burning is complete, open the drive and flip the disc over.
Burn your label. Remember, the same drive that burns your data burns your label, too!

Buy LightScribe Media and Drives
In our opinion, Infiniti is the highest quality LightScribe media available. Although HP is behind the technology, it does not necessarily follow that a Hewlett Packard drive is the best DVD writer you can use. See our recommended drives here.
Many desktops and laptops come with a compatible internal CD/DVD writer included, so for many, the only purchase is the media, which is quite cheap.
The results speak for themselves – and the ‘labels’ are laser-etched - not printed - there's no ink, no smudging, and no peeling.
Simply put, this is a great new technology for making CD or DVD Labels. It is excellent value, simple to use, and you can create on the move, without a printer. Excellent!
