A Letter from Your Secretary-General
To all prospective delegates and faculty advisors,
Hello and welcome to the website for the twenty-first annual McGill Model United Nations Assembly! This year our conference will be taking place from January 27th-31st, 2011 at Le Centre Sheraton in beautiful and historical Montréal, Québec. This endeavor has evolved from a small student conference into the largest university-level conference of its kind in all of North America and I ardently promise you there is no experience quite like it.
This year we have taken it upon ourselves to re-invent the model UN experience. From our new website to our expansion of opportunities and educational prospects for university students to explore inside and outside of committee, we are striving to bring a new and creative edge to everything our conference entails. We will run traditional committees with fresh perspectives alongside never-before simulated bodies in order to continue experimenting with the model UN formulas many delegates on the circuit have become all too familiar with.
We hope the diversity of our simulations will provide ample material to stimulate every delegate's interests, from science and public policy to technology, women's issues, and conflict resolution. Guest speakers and trips around Montreal to relevant locations will enrich the already amazing experiences we hope to provide for you and ensure will be truly unforgettable.
This year's entertainment will take greater advantage of la belle Montréal and everything she has to offer her guests. We will expand upon last year's new initiatives for more communal events and inter-school bonding in every way possible. The city's finest attractions await you and the staff will make certain you will get the most out of the experience, especially in regards to the highly anticipated McParté on Saturday night, planning for which has already begun to supersede any feat of entertainment before it.
As you make the conference choices for the upcoming school year, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the secretariat at any time to explore what we have to offer you. This year will be quite competitive for conferences on the circuit but we here at McMUN are looking forward to showing you what exactly it means to debate, deliberate, and dominate in both the simulation and real worlds with resounding innovation. I look forward to personally welcoming you to the greatest city on Earth and seeing what you can do.
Say hello to the new McMUN... it's gonna be a good one.
May the ROPs be with you,
Nida Nizam
Secretary-General, McMUN XXI
