This is the web presence of the NSLU2-Linux development group and user community. We discuss, develop and modify the firmware and hardware of the Linksys NSLU2, the Synology DS101, the Iomega NAS100d, the D-Link DSMG600, and other ixp4xx-based devices with large attached storage. Purchase a Linksys NSLU2 and join our community if you are interested in doing the same.
Every community has its own set of rules. Here are ours:
Never *ever* use the Linksys EraseAll tool - it will brick your slug permanently.
You will search the wiki first here and read the FAQ before asking questions.
You must read and follow the steps in the README file precisely when flashing firmware.
Those who ask the questions, update the wiki when they get the answers.
Those who complain about the documentation, update the wiki to make it better.
Friends don't let friends flash custom firmware without confirmed RedBoot Upgrade Mode access.

Please consider making a donation to the project if you are using the Unslung, SlugOS, Debian/NSLU2 or OpenWrt/NSLU2 firmware or Optware packages.

Latest firmware releases
The OpenWrt Kamikaze 7.09 release of firmware is in beta testing. A binary firmware download can be found at http://www.slug-firmware.net. Please report beta testing results to the nslu2-linux mailing list.
The latest stable release of Debian is version 5.0 (lenny). At this point, lenny is recommended for new installations of NSLU2. A binary firmware download can be found at http://www.slug-firmware.net.
The Unslung 6.10 release of firmware is stable and is a recommended upgrade for all Unslung firmware users (exception of Unslung 6.8 users). A binary firmware download can be found at http://www.slug-firmware.net. The list of beta testers is here. Please add your entry to the list if you are beta testing. Be sure to read UpgradingToUnslung6 before you upgrade from a previous version of the Unslung firmware.
The SlugOS (DebianSlug, OpenSlug) 3.10 release of firmware is stable and is a recommended upgrade for all OpenSlug firmware users. A binary firmware download for SlugOS can be found at http://www.slug-firmware.net. The list of beta testers is here. Please add your entry to the list if you are beta testing.
If at any time you want to revert to the original Linksys firmware (and we can't imagine why you would, as the Unslung firmware is designed to be a fully compatible upgrade of the stock firmware), then just revert to the Linksys firmware.
Downloadable packages
There are also Downloadable Packages available for the Unslung firmware and also for other devices like the Asus WL-500g,WL-HDD, WL-500gx, WL-500gP routers, the Synology DS-101 and DS-101g+ NAS devices, and other wireless routers with support for external storage and based on Oleg or DD-WRT firmware.

Please report any problems with the firmware or packages in SlugBug and mailing lists.
