New theme preview site is up and running
by Henrik Stenbæk
4. december 2008 20:30
I have created a new site for the purpose of previewing BlogEngine.NET themes. Please find the site at: preview.onesoft.dk.
This preview site supports navigation in the different themes: meaning that one is able to se every aspect of the theme and not just the first page.
I haven rsquo;t uploaded all the themes I have created yet, but I will do this during the next couple of days and update every link in the original blog post on this site..... In the mean time please the a look at the almost finished cellar-heat-dark theme.
I rsquo;m also working on a dedicated theme site - based on the Wordpress theme CSS Gallery adapted for BlogEngine.NET...
As soon I have it up and running I will remove all themes from this blog and create a dedicated site for the themes.
Any suggestions and comments are welcome..

New BlogEngine Theme: iNove
by Henrik Stenbæk
15. november 2008 02:52
Yet another Wordpress theme found its way to BlogEngine.NET. iNove is original created by mg12.
Theme highlights
This theme is by first look very quot;simple quot; - but when one getting to know it better it have some very nice formatting.
The comments list has this cool formatting where all comments posted by administrator is quot;reversed quot;:
The top menu is also cool:
Related post is also nice formatted:
Please notice
Its seems that the widget drag and drop is not working on IE. They are working fine with Firefox (do I need to say more!?!).

arthemia theme ready for BlogEngine
by Henrik Stenbæk
14. november 2008 20:57
Today I have finished adapting Arthemia 2.0 theme by Michael Jubel for BlogEngine.NET. The theme is using cleocn #39;s code for displaying the first image in summary view and Al Nyveldt #39;s code for saving theme preferences.
I #39;m not sure this could be considered a valid BE 1.4.5 theme: it isn #39;t supporting widgets.
Setup this theme
1. Add descriptions to categories
Go to the categories tab of the admin page and add descriptions to all categories. If you don #39;t want category to show up in the list simply start the description with an :
Its not possible to have the categories sorted in a custom way.
2. Select categories for Headline and Featured
After logging in, go to the homepage and click the show/hide link next to the Theme Settings text. Select the category to use for the headline and featured section on the FrontPage.
The headline section will show the latest post in the headline category.
The featured section will show all posts in the featured category.
I think its a good idea to create a specific category for the featured items and then manually add/remove the posts you want to show in that section. Only this way you will be able to make sure that the same post will not show up more than one time on the FrontPage.
3. Recent comments
Go to the control section and set the number of recent comments to 4 - remember to scroll down and click the save settings button.
Known errors
The problem is ldquo;a minor rdquo; bug in the theme ;-)
The Headline and feature will not show if the most resent blog post is not published ndash; when you log-in you will se the unpublished items and the headline/featured will show up again. Until I have the time to fix this please use this workaround:
When writing blog posts that will remain unpublished for some time: set the blogpost date/time to 1/1/2000. Remember to set the date back to the current date when you decide to publish the post.

Wise Words
The older I get, the more I believe that the only way to become a better
programmer is by not programming. You have to come up for air, put down the
compiler for a moment, and take stock of what you #39;re really doing. Code is
important, but it #39;s a small part of the overall process
