20 Stone Russian ballet stars set for extensive UK Tour
HAVING been a huge success in 2007 and spring #145;08, Russia #146;s
alternative ballet company, The Big Ballet - comprising 16
female dancers each weighing a strict minimum of 17 Stone
#150; is returning to the UK with an even bigger autumn tour
of 33 venues, presented by Amande Concerts UK, including a
performance at the Albert Halls, Bolton, on Sunday, 12 October.

Twin towns tune up for festival
Big bands, brass bands, youth bands, quintets and trios from
across Europe will be making sweet music in Oxford next month.
The musicians are all part of the Oxford International Band
Festival 2008 - a four-day programme of workshops and performances

Ballerinas make a big impact on the stage
A TROUPE of Russian female ballet dancers, who weigh an average
of 20 stone, returns to Wales this week. The Big Ballet is
made up of 16 female dancers who certainly do not conform

In a pre-tour warning, theatre producer Alexej Ignatow of
Amande Concerts suggests food-stocks may run short in Billingham
this spring as the world #146;s biggest ballet stars, The
Big Ballet, are back in the UK and set to perform at the Forum

The Perm Anomaly
Although it didn #146;t generate a lot of press, the 2008
edition of Art Perm, which ran January 18 to 27, marked a
new start for the ten-year-old art fair. Like its host city,
Art Perm is small in scale and reputation, with most of its
30-plus exhibiting galleries coming from the surrounding Ural
region, but if the fair still has a ways to go before becoming
a truly contemporary event (and it does), this year it showed
