Welcome

Hi, welcome to the online home of Milestones Photography. We’re a boutique studio of photojournalists who have walked away from the the 24-hour news cycle and set up shop celebrating real-life moments: weddings, births, birthdays, families, you name it. We even cover floods. In fact, we’re gearing up to do that again.
We’re based in the West Fargo-Fargo-Moorhead area and we also travel. Our images compete and place in international photojournalism competitions on a regular basis. We’re members of the WPJA and it’s sister org, the AG-WPJA.
We believe in working smart, working hard, and having fun while we’re at it! We think we have the best jobs ever. We love doing this, and we hope you’ll love us doing it for you!
We take our images very seriously, but sometimes it's hard to hide the inner geek. We just can’t help it. You know, work hard, play hard, yadda, yadda. So come along for the ride. You’ll either be laughing at us, or with us. (If it’s the former, please don’t tell.)

Bros on Broadway 2011
A week ago, Dave and I put on our mustaches (or in Dave #8217;s case, shaved his beard) and photographed the 3rd annual Bros on Broadway at the Hotel Donaldson. The epic dude event, a February-Fargo version of Movember, helped raise money for the American Cancer Society.
As usual, we saw a lot of facial hair #8230; beards, mustaches, goatees, chops #8230; witnessed tons of awesome costumes #8230; a pair of Oompa Loompas, Abe Lincoln, the dude from the Hangover #8230; and ate some ridiculously delicious food #8230; bacon wrapped pork, anyone?

And, if there is one thing we know for sure, the beautiful women of Badweather Burlesque DOMINATED Bros on Broadway (above). They also did a fabulous job recruiting some fine men and mustached women to participate in our Mustache Portraits booth. Here are a few of our favorites:

Adorable Sisters Meredith #038; Lila
First we shot Jessica and James #8217; engagement photos a few years ago, then it was their wedding, next up they modeled in a commercial shoot because they #8217;re just such a great looking couple, and now we get to photograph their adorable daughters, Meredith and Lila. I love it!
WARNING: Prepare to say, #8220;Awwwww #8230; #8221; a lot.

Meet Sarah
Hi, welcome to our new online home! I’m Sarah. Some of you know me (hi, guys!) but a lot of you don’t because I like to hide out in the back office crunching numbers and stuff. The cameras intimidate me a little bit so I tend to stay away from them. It is also my job to taunt the photographers. Mostly Dave, though, because Britta #8217;s just too sweet.
I’ve had cameras in my face pretty consistently since 1999. That tends to happen when you date and then marry a photographer. Dave always says this stuff will end up on the Internet, so I might as well post it before he does. It’s my best only defense, right?
I always say I’m in trouble if I die before he does #8230; he’ll make sure my wake is chock full of embarrassing photos. On the other hand, there might not be room for any people with the room full of giant prints, so it might end up ok.
I’m here because I’m the ‘civilian’ part of Milestones, I have a point-and-shoot that I keep on auto #8230; and mostly in my purse. My talents lie outside of the photography realm. (I’ll fascinate you with those later.) But I love good photography, and surrounding myself with brilliant photographers is a pretty great way to spend my days.

Wedding Wednesday: BHLDN
Each Wednesday, the ladies of Milestones (aka Sarah and myself) will share our favorite tidbits in the wedding world. It will be part wedding fashion, part do-it-yourself and part wedding randomness.
I couldn’t think of a better way to begin Wedding Wednesday than showing you some of my favorite gowns from the newly launched BHLDN, the wedding branch of the fabulous Anthropologie. I was drooling from the moment I hopped on to their new site (I even asked my husband if we could get married again just so I could wear one of these fabulous gowns). There is no doubt I’ve always been a sucker for simple silhouettes and these soft ivory and white gowns are no exception. They are beautiful, modern and extremely sophisticated.
Now, enough with my endless gushing. Here are a few of my favorite gowns paired with some stellar accessories.
The Trumpeted Pavot Gown is by far my favorite. I love the belt, the sweetheart neckline and the beautiful detailing. It #8217;s paired  here with the Bow-Topped Slingbacks (blush) shoes and modern Deco Feather Clip.
The Pinwheel Tea Dress would be perfect for a small garden wedding. I love the adorable Elopement Pumps (which I would totally wear to a wedding or on a random Tuesday) and the vintage Silk Coil Hat.
Isn #8217;t the Burnished Organza Gown incredibly sweet and soft? I like it paired with the Moonlit Peep Toes (with the Pom Pom Clip) and the aqua Saturn Drop earrings.
So, the Origami Pleated Dress is not a #8220;wedding dress #8221; but I thought it would work perfectly for a courthouse wedding. To spice it up, I paired it was these incredibly funky Agave Pump Toes shoes and the beautiful Lanquid Bow Headband.
I can #8217;t leave the bridesmaids out! Here are a few of my favorite dresses from BHLDN. From left: Beribboned Dress in Pewter, Savoy Dress in Raspberry and the Rivulet Dress in Celadon.
