WNEG-TV to become WUGA-TV in UGA partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB Media)
The University of Georgia will enter into a programming management partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting and will rebrand its commercial television station WNEG-TV to a public television station to be named WUGA-TV under an agreement in principle announced today. The moves will be subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission.

Christmas/New Year's Holidays
UGA offices will close for the holidays at close of business on Dec. 24 and will reopen on a regular schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 4. To conserve resources, Physical Plant will reduce building heating levels during the holiday period.
UGA rebroadcasts Commencement ceremonies
The University of Georgia will rebroadcast the undergraduate and graduate Commencement ceremonies on the University Channel (Charter channel 15).

Atlantis Revealed: Where the Oil Went
University of Georgia oceanographer, Samantha Joye, completed another month-long research cruise to the Gulf of Mexico in late November and early December, aboard the research vessel Atlantis. The ship also is home to the deep water submersible Alvin. On this cruise, for the first time, Joye travelled to the bottom of the Gulf to visually inspect the impact of the BP Deepwater Horison oil catastrophe. On their closest dive to the broken well head, Joye surveyed the bottom a mere two miles from ground zero. UGA videographer and field producer Bill Evelyn traveled on the cruise with Joye. #8220;Atlantis Revealed: Where the Oil Went, #8221; documents Joye #8217;s findings that much of the oil from the disaster may now be on the Gulf of Mexico bottom.
