Dosun J-1 Pedal Lights have built-in micro generators, which convert 30 seconds of pedaling into 90 seconds of flashing. Their aluminum alloy bodies are rain-proof and perform in extreme weather temperatures. For more information, head on over to Dosun's web page. Via.

Finally! Now we can slide down those snowy hills without having to drag a heavy sled back UP the hill...thanks to the plastic butt-plate built into these SnowShorts. You can find them at Orvis in both children and adult sizes (for up to 42" hips) for 35 bucks.

We've seen a nine-year-old do it, and now 13-year-old Eric Wheeless survived a cold, Idaho night by mentally referencing Bear Grylls and Survivorman (Les Stroud). According to a local paper, Wheeless became separated from his family on a hunting trip. Instead of panicking, he relied on skills that he picked up from our favorite Discovery Channel survivalists and made it through a dank, dark, frigid nine hours on his own. The the extent of the...

You know when you were a kid and you used to lay outside on your back and look at the clouds trying to find one that looked like something other than a cloud? Mine always looked like hearts or ships. Nothing as fabulous as these. Wanna see more cool clouds? Follow this link....or start looking up when you're uncooped!!

I've never really had a problem with sipping water out of my Camelbak, but apparently for some it's an issue. At least that's what the motto "Never Suck Again" would have one believe. The Pressure Pak is an interesting product that pressurizes the water in your hydration bladder so that you can simply press down on the bite valve to get a spray. The Pressure Pak goes around your bladder and includes a hand pump...

One of the great things about getting uncooped is getting in touch with nature. Well, here's a slide-show of some nature you've probably never touched! The little guy pictured above is a Mexican neotenic mole salamander. Cute, isn't he? (Looking at him reminds me of that line in Ghostbuster's 2, "Hairless pets. Weird.")

Set for a January 2010 release in Europe, the new Wii exercise bike, called the Cyberbike, is like most stationary bikes. Except while you're not getting anywhere you also play a clean-up-a-virtual-world game that comes bundled with the bike, which doesn't clean up anything. No mention of price yet. I think I'd rather stick to my treadmill and hike along while watching classic TV sitcoms. WKRP in Cincinnati anyone? Via Gizmodo.

As a cyclist, I'm aware of the need for unobstructed visibility. I've been on the road when my sunglass frames block my peripheral vision when I'm looking out for cars, and it's disconcerting, to say the least. Luckily for me and everyone else on the road, Smith Optics' Pivock V90's have done away entirely with sunglass frames, meaning virtually unobstructed vision for wearers. They're made up of a one piece lens, a nosepiece, and earpieces....

Tent that Transforms Into a Hammock

Admittedly, this is a rather old concept, but it seemed interesting enough to post anyway. The Respite shelter hammock, designed by Ryan Heiser, is a combination tent/hammock. Unlike other hammock tents designed to be tied in the trees and lift the user off the ground, the Respite includes a metal hammock frame that doubles as the tent frame. Simply zip or unzip the zippers on the canvas and enjoy a traditional tent or easy set-up...

When camping with more than a few people, heating hot water over the campfire can be an arduous task. If only there were a transportable rig for regulating propane... Of course, there is. And with the help of your average home store turkey fryer can help heat tubloads of water for cooking, drinking, washing, and mid-trail bubble baths. Here's how.

Flashlights and lanterns serve two different but equally important functions at the campsite. The lantern is great for casting a little ambient light around your tent or campsite, while the flashlight is the only tool to use should you need to cast a direct beam out into the woods. Rather than carrying two separate light sources, consider the new Eureka! Magic 185 Flashlight/Lantern. This LED device allows you to quickly screw the top of...

Folding Bike Complete With Folding Wheels

Generally the folding aspect of the folding bike ends somewhere at the frame. Not the case with this bike concept from designer Victor Aleman--this one keeps folding at the wheels and breaks down to what appears to be suitcase-size. The small size of the bike would make it ideal for transporting, but it looks as though it would take an hour to set-up and break down. It would also be difficult to ignore the pivot...

While the purist may not want electricity anwhere near the wilderness, those that rely on GPS units, cell phones, MP3 players or other electronic gadgets are always in need of a charge. While there are a slew of solar chargers out there, here's a backpack that makes use of a new source of energy--you. The backpack transforms your hiking energy into stored electricity via a sliding mechanism within the frame. It can be stored in...

This is a difficult video to watch. It's also pretty remarkable, considering. A skier in Haines, Alaska was buried by an avalanche and rescued--and it was all captured on his helmet cam. He was buried for 4 and a half minutes, which I'm sure felt like an eternity. According to the source material, the whimpering sound we hear in the video is of the skier swallowing and gasping to get air. He was reported as...

Treksta's Sidewinder trail running shoe is an example of a company paying attention to detail. In addition to the trail-ready standards like a shock-absorbing midsole shank and abrasion-resistant sidewalls, the Sidewinder rocks the BOA lacing system and an IceLock outsole for traction in icy conditions. On my test run, the word of the day was stability-the Sidewinder cruised over trail obstacles with ease. Whether I stepped on or inadvertantly kicked them, half-buried rocks and exposed...
