VA Secretary Encourages Schools to Continue Yellow Ribbon
On March 10, VA Secretary Eric Shinseki encouraged private schools to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program for 2011 ndash;2012. The program helps pay the balance of tuition for student Veterans at private universities. Read more at VAntage Point
US and Australian VA Departments Team Up
The US and Australian Departments of Veterans Affairs will collaborate on a new research effort
focused on investigating the impact of recent conflicts on the health of returning Servicemembers. Both Departments will share data and best practices for a common goal: serving Veterans.
Stop Loss Retroactive Pay Deadline Extended Again
Service members, Veterans and beneficiaries of service members who were involuntarily extended under Stop Loss Between Sept. 11, 2001 and Sept. 30, 2009 are eligible for Retroactive Pay. The deadline to file has been extended to March 18.
VA Lends New Support to Caregivers
The Department of Veterans Affairs is launching the first of a series of new and enhanced services supporting family caregivers of seriously ill and injured Veterans.

Dr. Haru Okuda Named National Medical Director for SimLEARN
Dr. Haru Okuda was recently named national medical director for the Department of Veterans Affairs Simulation Learning Education and Research Network (SimLEARN) program. Okuda leads a staff of clinical simulationists and educators in conducting research, developing curricula and best practices.
