URA wins international award for the transformation of the Southern Ridges

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has won the prestigious Urban Land Institute (ULI) Global Award for Excellence 2010 for its transformation and development of the Southern Ridges. The Southern Ridges project was commended for creating quot;a rare contiguous recreational space in densely populated Singapore quot;.

Singapore's third quarter GDP growth is within expectations

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) announced today that the Singapore economy remains on track to achieve the overall growth forecast of 13 to 15 per cent for the whole of 2010. Advance estimates showed that the economy expanded by 10.3 per cent in the third quarter of 2010 compared to the same period a year ago. Growth in the rest of the year will be underpinned by a number of factors including continued growth in global demand for electronic products and visitor arrivals.

Singaporeans to enjoy greater convenience in passport collection

Singaporeans will have the option to collect their passports from selected Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) outlets from 15 October 2010. The collaboration between ICA and SingPost brings greater convenience to Singaporeans without compromising on security. This new service also complements ICA #39;s existing efforts to help Singaporeans plan and better manage their time.

NS IPPT system enhanced for greater flexibility, sustained fitness

NSmen will enjoy greater flexibility in planning their fitness training regime from 1 April 2011. The period for completing the voluntary 10 sessions of Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) Preparatory Training or IPT will be extended to nine months. Customised Personal Performance Targets will also be introduced for NSmen who opt for IPT.
